Gear up for your most romantic holiday yet! This Valentine’s Day, MC Lightfoot hosts an intimate concert for “Lovers and Friends” featuring smooth, sultry songs by R&B vocalists Keith Sweat and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. Spend the night with your Valentine and two of the hottest names in the hip-hop industry this Thursday!
In 1975, Keith Sweat was a member of the band Jamilah in Harlem. With this band he traveled and performed throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. In November 1987 Keith Sweat released his solo debut album Make It Last Forever. His second album, I’ll Give All My Love to You, was released in 1990 and reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart. This album contained the hits “Make You Sweat” which reached number one on the R&B charts and number 14 on the pop charts.
Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds’ award–winning, multi-faceted pop/urban career includes the consecutive multi-platinum landmark albums Tender Lover, For the Cool in You (including signature hits “Never Keeping Secrets” and “When Can I See You”), and The Day (“Every Time I Close My Eyes”). As co-founder with L.A. Reid of LaFace Records in 1989, the 11-time Grammy Award winner and 49-time nominee nurtured the careers of such megastars as TLC, OutKast, Usher, and Toni Braxton.
This event will take place at the famous Fox Theatre. The theater was originally planned as part of a large Shrine Temple as evidenced by its Moorish design. The auditorium was ultimately developed as a lavish movie theater in the Fox Theatres chain and opened in 1929. It hosts a variety of cultural and artistic events including the Atlanta Ballet, a summer film series, and performances by national touring companies of Broadway shows. The venue also hosts occasional concerts by popular artists.
