Yoga for Kids Is Scheduled to Host a Class at Alpharetta Library

Lots of people think of yoga as stretching or twisting the body into various impossible-looking pretzel shapes. But yoga is easier than it looks. There are simple poses as well as complicated ones, so there is something for all abilities. Yoga requires no special equipment, so you can do it almost anywhere.

The Yoga for Kids program is a series of routines intended for use with youth ages 5-19. Yoga is a type of exercise that combines breath, physical postures, and mindfulness to help strengthen and calm the body and mind. Practicing yoga builds strength, flexibility, and confidence. Also, the focus on breathing promotes relaxation and quiets the mind.

Yes, yoga is calming for kids, but it’s also a fun, noncompetitive, sometimes sneaky, way to be physically active. Healthy living is a core component of the 4-H youth development program. 4-H Yoga for Kids supports the goal of equipping youth and families to achieve optimal physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Yoga mats are provided. This event is open to youth in 3rd-6th grade.
